New York City Ballet: Fall Gala
The New York City Ballet will hold its fifth annual Fall Gala on Tuesday, September 20 at the David H. Koch Theatre in New York. The event is well-known for its impressive mix of dance and fashion, with some of the biggest names in the business coming together, collaborating to create a night of spectacular entertainment. From what we’ve seen on the agenda, this year will be no different.
Conceived by the New York City Ballet (NYCB) board chair, Sarah Jessica Parker, and launched in 2012, the event has raised $10 million for the ballet company and has since featured costumes from some of the world’s greatest designers, from Valentino to Peter Copping for Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera.
This year’s gala looks set to continue this tradition with ballets by internationally acclaimed guest choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, who will create work for the company for the very first time with costumes by Rosie Assoulin. There are a number of other notable partnerships with NYCB Principal Dancer Lauren Lovette being dressed by Narciso Rodriguez, NYCB Resident Choreographer and Soloist Justin Peck, featuring costumes designed by Dries Van Noten, and NYCB Corps de Ballet member Peter Walker, with costumes by Jason Wu.
The evening will kick off at 5.30 PM with a cocktail reception, performances will follow at 7 PM, and conclude with a ball where guests can dance the night away with NYCB company members. In celebration of the gala’s fifth anniversary the program will also include a look back over previous years’ costume designs by the NYCB Costume Shop, together with the designers and NYCB’s Director of Costumes, Marc Happel.
Tickets are available by singles or by table. Single tickets range from $350 to $10,000, and tickets for tables range from $25,000 for the Patron Table to $150,000 for the Chairmen Table. In order to be listed as a Benefit Committee Member, a minimum contribution of $1,500 is required. Tickets can simply be booked through the NYCB.
The star-studded evening has previously attracted guests including Jennifer Hudson, Vanessa Williams, Carolyn Murphy and Ivanka Trump. World class dance and design, coupled with Michelin star style food, Champagne and couture dresses provide the perfect ingredients for an elegantly creative and entertaining evening.
So if you’re thinking of attending the evening make sure you book your tickets soon as time is running out. Who would want to miss the chance to see the work of some of the world’s biggest dancers, designers and choreographers, all while mingling with the stars? If you aren’t in NYC, why not charter a private jet to New York and arrive in style before getting ready for the big event.
