Charter a private jet to the Academy Awards
On March 4, 2018, the Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars, return to Dolby Theatre for the 90th installment of the biggest night in Hollywood. Fronted by television host Jimmy Kimmel of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, Tinseltown’s most prestigious awards ceremony is live-streamed around the world. But why watch the Oscars at home when you can charter a private jet to Los Angeles and join the biggest film stars in the world in person?
Hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscars is the most acclaimed film awards ceremony on the planet. Receiving one of these coveted awards is recognised as the highest honour a nominee can receive. The Academy itself is comprised of 6,000 directors, producers, actors and film industry professionals who recently cast their ballots. Nominee details have been released, but the winners will only be revealed on the night.
The Academy Awards’ inaugural ceremony took place in 1929 after Louis B. Mayer, former head of MGM studios, wanted to reward the best films of the year during a ceremony at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Ten years later, in 1939, the awards started to become known as the ‘Oscars’ – a moniker which, according to reports, was coined by Executive Director Margaret Herrick due to the infamous gold statue resembling her Uncle Oscar.
And the winner is…
The Oscars are made up of 24 categories, with the most highly-anticipated including “Best Picture”, “Best Actress in a leading Role”, “Best Actor in a leading Role” and “Best Director”. Nominees for “Best Picture” include Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk and Get Out, while Gary Oldman, Denzel Washington and Oscars newbie Timothee Chalamet are among the contenders for ‘“Best Actor in a Leading Role”. Meryl Streep, Sally Hawkins, Frances McDormand and Soairse Ronan battle Margot Robbie’s critically acclaimed turn as disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in the “Best Actress in a Leading Role” category.
After the Academy Awards
After the awards have concluded, the biggest names in Hollywood head to one of the many glitzy after-parties. The most famous bashes include Elton John’s star-studded AIDS Foundation Academy Award Party and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which is tipped to be returning for a fourth year to its custom-built space in the adjacent Beverly Hills City Hall. As Hollywood’s biggest red-carpet event, the Oscars guarantee an evening of iconic fashion, with film stars dressed in top designers including Zac Posen, Balmain and Versace.
Whether you’re the guest of a nominated film star, invited to a glamorous after-party or attending the Academy Awards for another reason, charter a private jet with Air Charter Service to Los Angeles International Airport and arrive in A-List style.
