Delivering refrigerators to a remote community in Canada

In October 2021, a Canadian humanitarian network asked us to help transport a shipment of refrigerators from Winnipeg to a remote eastern Manitoba community, whose residents had been evacuated whilst their homes were repaired following wildfires. With no runway or landing strip in the hard-to-reach settlement, we had to think outside the box to safely deliver the vital cargo.

Our Solution

Route: Winnipeg > Pauingassi First Nation

Aircraft: de Havilland Canada Dash 7 followed by a helicopter transfer

Our experienced team quickly chartered a de Havilland Canada Dash 7 to transport the refrigerators to the airstrip in the nearby community of Little Grand Rapids. We then arranged helicopters to transfer the cargo in slings the rest of the way to Pauingassi. Air Charter Service personnel accompanied the flight and provided real-time updates and photos, keeping the client fully up-to-date on the consignment’s progress throughout the charter.

The Finer Details

Rapid Response: We pulled out all the stops to come up with a viable solution within an hour of the request coming in.
