Closed for renovation works in 2010, El Nouza remains closed for the foreseeable future though work is currently ongoing, with improvements made to the runway. The new terminal project is still at a standstill, so El Nouza is not likely to open any time soon. In the meantime, all international traffic into the region is via Borg El Arab Airport.
